FINANCIAL SERVICES USER GROUP TO BE RENEWED BY THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

The European Commission has initiated a call for expression of interest for new members of the Financial Services User Group. The Group was established by the Commission in 2010, by involving users of financial services, for the purpose of advising the Commission in the preparation and implementation of legislation or policy initiatives and to proactively identify key issues affecting users of financial services, and furthermore, to advise and establish connection with financial services user representatives at the EU and national level.

The renewal of the Group is part of the Commission’s efforts to give consumers a strong voice in the EU policy making in financial services and to encourage independent experts, e.g. from academia, to apply. The Group will advise the Commission on its ongoing work on the Capital Markets Union, and it will be involved in the decision making referring to the Retail Financial Services Action Plan. The deadline for submitting applications is 21 April 2017.
