APPOINTMENT OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HIGH-LEVEL EXPERT GROUP ON SUSTAINABLE FINANCE

At the end of 2016, the European Commission has announced the members of the High-Level Expert Group on sustainable finance. The Commission selected 20 highly qualified candidates from the civil society, the finance sector and academia with respect to their personal competences, their contribution to work relevant to sustainable finance and the prominence of their affiliation in this area.

The High-Level Expert Group will start meeting in January 2017, and prepare an interim report containing the principal issues in the summer of 2017. The Group will provide its final report in December 2017 including operational recommendations for a comprehensive EU strategy on sustainable finance as a part of the Capital Markets Union. On the basis of the report, the European Commission will determine how to make EU financial policy more sustainable. This represents a significant step in the follow-up to the EU’s 2030 Agenda for sustainable development as well as the Paris Agreement on climate change.
