EU RECOVERY PLAN IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL

In May 2020 the European Commission announced the long-term EU budget and a €1.85 trillion recovery plan, which will be used for instruments to build a modern, clean and healthy economy in accordance with – the Europe’s growth strategy – the European Green Deal. It aims also to provide the livelihoods for the next generation. The recovery plan is focusing the main aspects of the EU Green Deal, e.g. renewable and decarbonized gases, clean and sustainable mobility and the circular economy. The EU governments and the next generation EU drivers have to respect the recovery green strategy in order to ensure the competitive sustainability of the EU.

Some of the participants say that the present economic situation caused by COVID-19 creates historic opportunity to reconstruct several sectors of the economy towards the clean technologies. These sectors are for instance construction, transportation, logistics, energy etc. Meanwhile, Greenpeace criticized the EU recovery plan, pointing out that the plan includes several green options, but does not solve the problem of the existing support for gas, oil, coal and industrial farming.
